A long let is a rental of six months or more on a written contract registered with the Housing Authority. It gives tenants security of tenure and regulated deposit protection.
How much is a long-term rental in Malta?
Long-let apartments typically range €700–€1,000/month for one bedroom outside the centre and €1,000–€1,600 in central seafront areas, with houses and villas above that. Long-let rates are notably cheaper than short-let equivalents.
Is a deposit required for a long let?
Yes — usually one month’s rent, held as security and returned at the end of the lease subject to the property’s condition. Some landlords also ask for the first month in advance.
